Description:

The Shell Sorter™ is a simple product designed to reduce the time spent sorting brass by caliber, allowing you to enjoy more time reloading and shooting.

The Sorter simply sits on top of a common 5 gallon bucket, with a few shakes your brass is sorted by caliber. The Shell Sorter™ is comprised of three pans designed to sort several common calibers.

The three main calibers that most reloaders sort are 45 ACP, 40 S&W, and 9mm. We have labeled the sorters according to those three main calibers. The sorters do sort many more calibers! The following chart shows some of those calibers and the sorter pan that they end up in.

The fastest way to sort is to stack all three of the pans together with the yellow pan on top, and the black on the bottom, in that way all your brass is sorted at the same time.

If you sort before tumbling as is recommended, most shells that are inside of each other will come apart with the shaking and are sorted correctly. However, if you tumble first, those are likely to jam together with small bits of media, and sometimes those require a pliers.

The sorters can also take the place of your media sifter. Just tumble, pour your brass into the appropriate sorter(s), shake a bit, your media is in the bucket, and your brass is ready for the next step.

You can use this on the range so that you only bring home brass in the calibers that you reload.

The Shell Sorter™ is made of ABS, a very strong plastic which will give a lifetime of service. We placed a sorter underneath a car tire, and it didn't break or distort! In fact, it still worked!

Always wear gloves and a dust mask when working with used brass because of the levels of lead dust present.

This is so effective and easy to use that it actually encourages me to pick up range brass. I have used it constantly for a year and it never ceases to amaze me how well it works

I'm delighted with the shell sorter, it took me no time at all to sort about 10kg of 9mm brass from the recycling bin at our local club. My pals who shoot 40 and 45 also got lucky as I kept these seperately for them (that's what friends are for, right?) Here are my tips:

1. Really cheap Russian 9mm ammo with steel cases is quite common here, if you encounter this you will need a large magnet to remove it from the sorted cases.
2. For ultrasonic cleaning the sorter tray is a great aid to rinsing cases if you put it in the sink and shake under running water. Its also good for shaking off water afterwards.
3. The sorter fits so tightly into a standard plastic bucket that you don't loose any media if shaking after tumbler cleaning, so there's no need for an expensive "bingo drum" media seperator, the shell sorter and a £1.50 bucket is all you need.

In summary - If you reload then you should have this great piece of inexpensive kit!

Bought the kitty litter scoop, but it didn't do the trick.
Then I bought these, and they are a great time saver.
Even sorts out 38 special, no problem.
Maybe 38 super will be comingled with 9mm, I haven't tested that.
In what used to take an hour, I can now have all my brass sorted in ten minutes.

I paid about $50 Canadian last year, works great. Perhapse only now"available" in Europe for those who can't use a web purchase. The 38 special/357mag cases get commingled with the 9mm but is easily resolved by manually picking them out.
PS A one dollar kitty litter scoop does the trick when collecting swept up brass...
